3 Extras That Are Worth Adding Onto Your Insurance Policy
When you craft your auto insurance policy, you need to make sure that your policy provides the basics necessary coverage. There are lots of extras that you can also add onto your insurance policy; the key is to make sure that they are worth it.
Roadside Assistance
Most insurance companies now offer roadside assistance if you choose to add this option to your insurance policy. The cost is generally low; you may end up only paying a few dollars per-month in order to have the protection offered by roadside assistance.
Most roadside assistance programs will help you out if your need a tow truck, your vehicle jump started, or you lock yourself in your vehicle. You can even get someone to bring you gas if you run out. Generally, there is a limit based on how many times you can use your roadside assistance per premium period, but even if you end up needing extra assistance, you can still get it for a small additional fee.
Rental Insurance Coverage
Another benefit you should sign up for is rental insurance coverage. With rental insurance coverage, if your vehicle is damaged in an accident, regardless of who is at fault, your insurance company will cover the cost of a rental car while your vehicle is getting fixed.
Most insurance companies will provide a certain level of coverage per day or for a set period of time. Their base-coverage may pay for a standard vehicle but not a luxury vehicle. However, if you want to upgrade your vehicle, you just have to pay the difference between what your insurance company will cover and the type of vehicle that you actually want to drive.
Extra Driver
If you have someone who drives your vehicle on a regular basis, you should add them to your insurance policy. If they get into an accident while driving your vehicle, and they drive your vehicle on a regular basis, you may find yourself in trouble.
It is okay if someone drivers your vehicle in a one-off situation, but if they are regularly driving your vehicle, you are going to want to make sure that they are listed as a covered driver on your insurance policy.
It generally will not increase your insurance premium when you add an extra driver, especially if that extra driver has a good driving record. If they have a poor driving record, you may have to pay a little more to insure that person, but it is worth it.
